Project Give Us the Museum,
Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.

This work is made of two parts, two 3d human-like figures, in a fragile condition, both attached to square grounds, while the first is subject to any sudden movement that changes its position on the square, the second seems to find its place on the edge of the square -the symbol of stability and prosperity- as an observer or maybe an escaper.

This artwork is a reflection on the notion of displacement. The psychological need to feel rooted when confronted with pressuring forces that do not only affect our geographical locution but also affect our understanding of terms such as home, belonging, and stability. Asking what is it that constructs these forces? Does the square, after a crisis, still hold its symbolic meaning of stability and prosperity? Is it still the stone foundation on which civilization stands? And what does that mean for us the people standing on the square?
