Nagham Abu Assaf is a versatile artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans various mediums, including painting, printmaking, drawing, video, sound, and installation. Amongst other themes, she navigates issues of language, translation, mistranslation, and the representation of the "other." Her works lie in the space between poetics and politics to convey profound messages which attempt to shed light on the intricacies that shape human interaction and perception. Currently, her artistic focus revolves around themes of landscape, through which she navigates other topics, such as colonial legacy and historical narratives, alongside themes of memory and resilience.
The artist obtained a degree in Fine Arts from Damascus University in 2010, a Master's in Arts from Damascus University in 2018, and is currently studying at the Dutch Art Institute, a.k.a DAI Roaming Academy.
