Measuring Distance with lemon seeds
Performing Arts Forum, France– 2022
Installation ( lamps, scent of soil, lemon seeds, photographs) recorded text and soundscape.
In a semi-dark room, the audience is invited to choose a comfortable spot. As everyone is seated a recorded text begins to play.
The text bounds storytelling with poetry. Words reverberate as the story bounces between a
present feeling of alienation, and an attempt to navigate through past events remembered in fragments. The text weaves glimpses of migration stories that were passed down to the artist by her grandparents along with a story about a lemon tree. The light of the lamps gradually intensifies as the story proceeds, revealing the objects placed beneath them and leaving the full immersion of the room in lights to declare the end of the narrated story that has no clear ending.
